Murmurs

Twin cliffs lean over the waves, gently tilting toward each other. A figure can be seen atop each precipice, each waving to the other, their screams swallowed by the swirl of the sea.

Hello

I'm a recovering former software engineer who is always very tired and who, over time, has accumulated quite the slug-trail of fancy pages of social media links websites that people ignored because they probably found it through LinkedIn and just wanted my email address. Turns out, I find the tech-industry to be a pretty reprehensible thing to associate myself with (truly revolutionary opinion) and I am now very unemployed and in a truly original, not at all cliché move, I've decided to fully throw myself into the thing that I've always actually really wanted to do, but have been too chicken burned-out to really sink my time into: writing.

The unfortunate truth about wanting to write (and maybe even make some money from it) is that you kind of need to be comfortable with other people (who you aren’t married to and who always tell you that you’re brilliant) reading your stuff. So before I attempt to foist a 100k-word novel into the world (I do have almost a whole one of those finished, y’know), I’m going to write here, where someone at least could read it, which is a good enough start for me.

Well, I’m going to go and collapse in on myself out of cringe now. Do enjoy whatever else is on the posts page.

FAQs

I came here from LinkedIn and I’d like to talk to you about...

Please don’t.

Why Murmurs?

I like to think the name of this blog is a living thing itself that will evolve along with me as I find my footing and my voice in all this stuff. Right now it’s a murmur, but later, who knows?

Do you use AI for any of this?

Fuck no.

Are you on any social medias?

I try very hard not to be.

What are these old posts doing here? Didn’t you start this in 2025?

For a little while I started writing a Substack newsletter called Ooh, Spooky that aimed to blend serialised stories with essay/blogpost type things that explored different paranormal or conspiracy adjacent topics. I still like the idea, but Substack has basically just turned into another social media site, so I’ve shut down that old blog and brought them over here, you can view them here:
